President's Letter
Dear Toasties,
As the year comes to an end and a new one begins, many of us take this time as an opportunity to review the last 12 months and make plans about the future.
This past year with Rockridge Toastmasters has been a reliable constant during another year of difficulties due to the ongoing pandemic. I think as a club we have continued to stick together and support each other so that we all succeed with our goals of public speaking and leadership.
Looking back through the year, it was wonderful to see Muriel and former member Beatrice celebrate their achievements in receiving their Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award. In the last year we’ve watched new members, Despina and Betty, grow as speakers and have seen their confidence shine through each of their speaking assignments. Robert has expanded his Toastmasters experience by being a part of the District leadership team as Area D Director. As well as working closely with each club in Area D, he continues to serve as our club VP of Education, assigning and organizing our roles for each week. Megan organized and hosted a wonderful Open House this fall and earned the club some District rewards. She also helped me find an Australian club to reach out to for our across-the-world meeting. It took a while, but our coordination with Lendlease Corporate Club of Sydney, Australia resulted in a well-organized, super fun event in November. The club website stopped working this year and Rubette and Krista took on the role of resurrecting it as a brand-new site. Thank you for all your hard work. A big thank you to everyone who answered our Moments of Truth survey and opened our eyes to areas for improvement. This led to our holiday party this past month. Even though the rain impacted our plans, it was great to see all of these familiar faces “in real life” and in person!
I look forward to continuing to serve as your President, and to see the club working together next year with continuous support of each other’s goals. I want to thank all the Officers who will be staying on to support this club. Thank you Monir, Rubette, Robert, and Megan. A huge thank you goes out to Krista and Eric for stepping up and serving as VP of Education and VP of Pathways, respectively. And a big thanks to the Officers who served during the July-December term.
May the coming year be full of more in-person events, more Open Houses, more new members, more Icebreaker speeches, and more advanced speeches and achievements to show us the way to our next President's Distinguished Club honor.
I hope your holiday season has been merry and that you have an amazing and joyous New Year. Happy 2022!!
